Odell Lake Fringe Benefit For Kokanee Angler

In Rick Nepper’s own words – “This 38″ mackinaw was caught the second week of the 2015 trout season while trolling for kokanee on Odell. The fish was caught on 6 pound test while I was reeling in a kokanee. Earlier in the day I had one that was a foot longer follow my gear right up to the boat but never hit the wedding ring.  After fighting this fish I was happy the bigger one never hit because this one took all but five wraps of line off my reel before I put my thumb on it to keep from getting spooled. We ended up with 30 kokanee and this big guy. Mackinaw are a lot of fun to catch and release but every once in a while you have to treat yourself to one of the best smoked fish you can ever ask for.”
